WoolConnect growers, along with their families and employees, and in partnership with their sheep and the landscape in which they farm, are dedicated to the art of growing top quality Merino wool. Along with selecting and breeding just the right Merino sheep for the job, there is also considerable experience and skill required in looking after these sheep to get the best result. Making sure that they have the correct nutrition and health in all seasons is an essential task for our growers. In most seasons this is easily done as Merino sheep thrive on the natural pastures that abound in this region. However, in more challenging seasons our growers may supplement their diet with additional foods like grains or hay if they see that there is inadequate nutrition in the pastures alone. Merino sheep thrive on these foods as well and continue to grow their Merino wool everyday. WoolConnect growers understand that careful harvesting and classing of the wool at shearing time is a key element to producing top quality wool. Keeping wools of similar lengths, strengths and micron together is a critical requirement that ensures evenness and consistency when wools are selected to make up a yarn for any particular specifications. WoolConnect growers are passionate about producing a natural fibre that is renewable, sustainable and perfect to wear. It is exciting to know that in these times of environmental enlightenment and consciousness, that we are producing a fibre that fits with this modern world. Our Merino sheep quite simply turn grass into the soft, white natural fibre we call fine Merino wool. WoolConnect growers are experienced and dedicated to their sheep and the landscape in which they produce nature’s perfect fibre. |
